IT WOULD HAVE BEEN so much easier if Lucas had been able to tell Sean, âNo, I canât be just friends.â Amy would have taken some convincing, but at least Lucas wouldnât have to plaster on a fake smile and pretend like his stomach wasnât in knots when they spoke.
Heâd spent the week in a state of confusion. Was being a virgin that bad? Was it something difficult to âdeal with,â as Sean had said? Had Lucas missed some magical moment where if you were still a virgin by then, you were doomed to remain one forever? Would every man cast him aside because he didnât have experience sucking dick? Did practicing on dildos not mean anything? Because Lucas had been doing that.
Since heâd reintroduced himself to his stash of toys, they hadnât stayed locked up for long. Heâd hoped that coming more oftenâusually with a dildo or massager in his arseâwould take the edge off his yearning for Sean. It had quite the opposite effect. Even that brief taste of him, of feeling him so close and hard and eager, had left Lucas with the desire for more. But it was something his toys couldnât give him.
Not even his favourite prostate massager could distract him on Thursday night. It was seated perfectly, humming away on his prostate and taint, but . . . nothing. Well, not nothing. His arse felt good, his dick was hard as he wanked lazily, but that was all. It felt purely physical. His head wasnât in it, and his heart was definitely elsewhere. Every time he imagined it was Sean inside him, making his body thrum, up popped the ridiculously handsome ex and the sad, lost expression heâd left on Seanâs face. Thus, Lucas couldnât get past this mid-stage of arousal. He was hard, he was stimulated, he wanted to come, but it just wasnât going to happen.
Sighing, he switched off the massager and gently removed it. Cleaning the toy and getting dressed took care of his erection, so he went out to the kitchen to get a beer. He sat out in the backyard and tried not to think about Sean. It was difficult. Everything right then seemed to be about him. Even Amy appeared fixated on keeping him in their lives. Lucas wished he had the innocence of childhood again, when making friends was easy and going to a birthday party was the most important thing.
Except heâd never really had that. Even after heâd been dumped into a private school at fourteen, he hadnât managed to make many lasting friends. He was the weird, unsocialised kid who did homework in his lunch break, aced every test, and even if he was invited to parties, was rarely allowed to attend. Added to that was his total disinterest in returning any of the attention he got from girls. Around him, kids were pairing up in heteronormative couples, and any hint of queerness was strongly discouraged. Lucas knew he much preferred looking at the boys, but those attractions hadnât been insistent enough to distract him.
